Frequently Asked Questions
General
Nerida Fraiman hats and turbans are handmade in our London studio.
Fabrics and trimmings are sourced from small specialist suppliers across the UK and Europe. Much of our traditional hat blocking is carried out by a long-established workshop in Luton, whose expertise forms part of the long history of British millinery.
Most styles are secured with discreet hat elastic or a headband. More fitted styles are worn as standard.
Hat elastic is positioned just behind the hairline, passing behind the ears and beneath the hair to the nape of the neck, keeping the hat stable while remaining invisible when worn.
We usually use brown hat elastic, as it blends easily with most hair tones. If you require a different shade, such as blonde, we are happy to change this.
Headbands allow the piece to sit in exactly the right position. The choice between elastic and headband is often a matter of personal preference.
Many hats in the collection are available in a range of colours, some of which are listed online.
If you are looking for a particular shade, please contact the studio and we can advise what is possible for that style.
In many cases, materials can be dyed or sourced to complement an outfit.
